Hey Gram,
Well we spoke to heaps of people regarding immunizations etc etc - Heaps of people (including our travel agent) told us not to bother with any immunization, but like Skippy says, who's to say that it won't happen to me? So we decided to play it safe - would rather pay the price, than go somewhere for a mere couple of weeks to return home and have Hep A/B etc etc for LIFE!!!!
So.........we had a typhoid injection (or you can apparently get a course of pills, I think there are 3 in the course) and we also had the Hep A/B combined injection - I think it's called TWINREX? We also had our tetnus booster shot and a little tea spoon of some liquid stuff for Polio (I think) It was all pretty straight forward and the damage was around $350 for both myself and my boyfriend. The tetnus and Polio is for free at your doctor. and keep in mind that the cost for the $350 is sort of cost/wholesale price as we have a friend who supplies to docs with the injection stuff!
So it is a little costly - but like Skippy says - "What's cost, when it's your health???
Happy travelling
