We were in Senggiggi for 5 nights at the end of our visit
to Bali and the highlight was our two day trips to the
Gili Islands. Another time we would stay for a week or two
there. The beaches were beautiful and the snorkelling was
excellent. The accomodation looked pretty and was very
reasonable, though rustic because the islands are small and
fresh water is at a premium but the ocean is warm and
delightful. We had made no advance plans so we went to
the Perama office in Sengiggi and booked the Island Hopping
snorkelling tour for 60 000 rp each (Thats about $15 Can or
Aus) We stopped about 4 times for snorkelling between the
islands, stopped at Gili Trawangen to let other passengers
off to stay there, and stopped at Gili Air for lunch. The
next time we went we just took the boat (same company,
same driver) to Gili Meno and spent the day swimming and
snorkelling. There were lots of places to buy cold beer
and meals. There are also a few hawkers including the
pineapple kids who sell and peel delicious fresh pineapple.
