I am a grad student going to Bali from September 7th to December 5th. I am doing an environmental internship there for the Bamboo Foundation. I had a couple questions before I go.
1. I'll be working during the weekdays from 9-5 and would like some ideas of what I can do as a single traveler during the nights and weekends...I'll be traveling alone, so are there any unsafe things I should avoid? Is it safe to be out by myself at night?
2. I have to leave before my first 60 days is up in Bali...so I can reenter and stay another month. I was thinking of going to Darwin, Australia for a short trip. Any suggestions about this? About how much will that cost to get a round trip ticket to Darwin?
3. I have been reading the good advice on the forum, but am willing to take any last minute recommendations before I leave. I have traveled internationally before, and I got terribly sick with malaria...so I am looking forward to a happy healthy trip to this new destination. Other than that,loooking forward to my travels. Maybe I'll meet some of you there.
