As I'd mentioned, we ate many meals at the Nusah Indah (apparently means "beautiful flower", and how appropriate! Flowers everywhere!!!)
We had a two week stay, and spent every second day exploring the island; the days in between we relaxed on the beach, played tennis, just enjoyed the resort. We were pleasantly surprised at the fair prices for the meals. Comparable quality in Winnipeg, (Canada) would DEFINITELY cost more. Never mind you are getting those knockout views at the resort's outdoor restaurants!
I suspect they'd have children's menus, as the Sheraton has the children's resort...
Our two favourite resort restaurants, of five, were both outdoors.
The Ikan featured beautiful Indonesian food,( grilled river prawns as big as lobsters,) at dinner. It is only footsteps from the beach, is shaded with great white canvas "wings", has a meandering stream, and the teak furniture is so comfy. We lunched there frequently - the lunch menu is lovely, and the meals ranged from $4 to about $9 (US). Presentation was artistic - the spring rolls with sambal (toned down on request) were to die for!!!! A child near to us had a hamburger (Australian beef.) You could even get exquisite tuna sandwiches, crusts trimmed, served on a banana leaf .
The other favourite restaurant begins inside, but several tables stretch outside onto a terrace cantilevered over a stream, in the midst of frangipani trees. There are many "Italian" specialties, which were wonderful and done with a very light hand. The best mie goreng we had anywhere ! It cost $8. In the evening you eat surrounded by flickering torches, serenaded by a band from Sumatra - two acoustic guitars, a double bass and a bongo drum. Highly romantic, but it would be fun for a child, too! You can even get pizzas, which were very light and artistically put together.
My husband and I are somewhat "foodie" , and enjoyed the meals very much. On the whole, we found the food at the Sheraton to be done with a very light touch, lots of flavour but not heavy...perfect in the hot weather.
Your child might like the fact that there is even an "icecream man" at the Sheraton, who sells ice cream cones from a pretty cart (again, spotless) in the shade along the beach boardwalk (an attendant also brings drinks round to the beach, and another comes round every hour to offer ice cold, damp terrycloths to put on your face or wrists, to shock the heat from your system, if only temporarily!!!!) Regarding the ice cream, there is also an assortment of pretty sprinkles and things for your child have on the ice cream.
My husband reminds me to say the little star resort was supervised.Hope it all works out, and you have as fabulous a time as we did!!!!!
