Yer man "K" seems to have answered 1, 2, & 6. so I'll try the others.
3. Prawns. If you scroll down the page (about half-way) there is a long thread started by Kate. This covers sea-food of different types in different places. I'd take a look at any prospective place in daylight, check it is clean etc. Also on arrival, ask others for recommendations- they will have eaten in the neighbourhood lately.

4. Weather As far as I know there is no bad weather in Bali. It varies from Hot and sunny, to hot and sunny with showers.

6. Anything useful for a first-timer?? I'm afraid thats a bit vague, 'cos there is so much people could tell you. Best bet is, make a follow-up entry giving some info. about yourself, your interests, and who you are travelling with. Age, do you want to party 24 hours a day, go surfing, see Temples, scenery, meet people, etc. also some idea of your budget, and whether you've travelled in S.E. Asia b4. Then people can give you advice that will be relevant to you

Additionally, If you go to the TOP of the page and click on "Bali Insiders guide" there's loads of info on weather, places to go, restaurants etc.
Also do an archive search with headings "just back" and any other headings youn are interested.
Finally: get an Irish-Australian Dictionary. The Aussies are very numerous, but don't worry, any I've met have been fairly sound (or fair dinkum if you prefer.)
Absolutely finally, enjoy it and be sure to post a "just back" of your own so that and I can see how you got on!
mise le meas,
Eddie
