I suppose you've already been told that he will need to have the Playstation modified either internally (which will void the warranty) or externally via a plug in (which shouldn't) to be able to play any games that you buy in Bali.
Chances are that he will also need either an NTSC compatible TV or an older style TV with a vertical hold as well.
That much aside, games that my 10 year old enjoys are things like:
Crash Bandicoot (any of the three)
Gex: The Gecko (at least two)
Croc (possibly two)
Ape Escape if it is available yet.
Star Wars if it is available yet.
Final Fantasy VII
Theme Hospital
Theme Park
If he likes car racing games try Gran Tourismo, Colin Macrae Rally, Road Rash (any)
Really just follow you nose. There are only a couple of basic genres of games and most are just clones of each other in one or other genre.
