From Melbourne, it takes roughly 5.5 hours (which I wouldn't really describe as long). When you look at your itinerary, they usually print the times in local time (eg Arrival will be in Bali time, departure in home time for outbound flight). Bali time is hmmm.. I've forgotten and become confused by daylight savings etc.. either 2 or 3 hours behind Eastern Australia. So the arrival time you see there will be the Bali time (I think the time diff is 2 hours at the moment). You can take gameboys on the plane, but don't use them at take-off and landing. Try and check in early and get seats near a movie screen so that kids can see it without straining their neck or sitting on five cushions. Think about buying some new toys or books that can be produced when a distraction is necessary.
