My wife and I are going to Bali in September for our honeymoon, staying at Bali Legian.
I have thought of buying a pre-paid phonecard for my gsm phone. How much does this cost, and where can I buy it?
Are there only the "SIMPATI card" available or are there other operators?
Lars
What I had in mind is that you arrive in Bali, get a SIMPATI card, and then the first thing you do is change the
message on your home voicemail to advise callers of your (new) number in Bali. It would, of course, be even better
if you could do this in advance; if you had a contact here who could buy a SIMPATI starter kit and keep it in
readiness for you, then the number would be available. We are not talking big bucks: the stater kit is Rp 125,000.
Incidentally, the SIMPATI cards are kept alive by recharging them with pre-paid calls. If you recharge with Rp
200,000, that gives you three months of validity. If it goes out of validity, the card is dead and you have to start off
all over again with a new starter kit.
