We stayed at the Ritz just after it opened. We also did a tour of 4 Seasons. The Ritz is on a cliff above and sort of around the corner from the 4 Seasons. There are steps down the cliff to a long pier, plus a seafood cafe at the bottom of the cliff - great for sunset drinks and a snack. the other open air restaurants were very good (as they should be). However, the RC does not have a beach (although the pool is much bigger than the one at 4 S), and we would take a free shuttle down to the 4 S beach club on Jimbaran beach for our morning swim, using their outdoor shower facitilites. The rooms at RC are either in your hotel type setting or the individual bungalows whilst at the 4S the rooms look mainly to be mini-compounds. 4S extends down a hill so there is a lot of walking up and down. The 4S has a great beach front restaurant called PJs plus a smaller cafe next door on the sand. In addition, you can just walk down the beach to have a much cheaper meal or beer at one of the beach front seafood places. RC is isolated from any local shops or restaurants. So I would recommend 4S over RC and you can still take a visit the RC for dinner to check it out.
