A number of hotels offer now also wines from Chile and South Africa. Many of the Australian wines are for Europeans too sweet.
Good news is that (Rupiah) prices for wine are going down. Even in restaurants such as Warisan you can now get a bottle of drinkable wine for about 140,000 Rupiah. I used to take my own bottles and pay the reasonable corkage -- nowadays it hardly makes sense any more.
The "Hatten Rose" wine (made in Sanur from Isabella grapes from Singaraja) has become quite popular and is priced in restaurants from 60,000 Rupiah up (which is about twice the wholesale price). Very recently the company has also introduced "HATTEN Jepun", a slightly rose sparkling wine which is quite pleasant if you don't compare it to a dry champagne.
The wholesale price is only 50% above the rose wine but as it is only available in a few leading 5-star hotels I guess it will be sold there for about 250,000 to 500,000 Rupiah ++ -- still a great bargain compared to what they charge for champagne.
Cheers.
