This place is really a top notch hotel. My wife was ecstatic. That made me very happy. It has all of the above-posted items, and more.
In addition to the ponds, pools, trails, etc. there is a play area for kids that is worth mentioning. I think it is called "Pirates Cove" (it looked like it was part of the resort, I hope I am not wrong). When my wife and I were there last week we strolled through the area and it really looked like kid-heaven - swings, treehouses, dragons, animals - tons of stuff. There is an indoor area w/ games, puzzles, etc. Two employees were there and appeared eager to entertain and supervise, but there were no kids around (presumably this changes as we get into the busier months of the tourist season).
The swimming pool area is an awesome sight. Our room's balcony overlooked swimming pools of various sizes and shapes carved out of slopes and terraces of lush tropical gardens. The pools are interconnected by water slides and stone-stepped waterfalls. Water crashes down into one of the pools from a cliff standing high above and it provides an exhilerating mountain shower without the dangers of rocks, bugs, reptiles and blood-sucking vermin. One huge slide kept my wife and I coming back time and again. We looked pretty silly, but nobody seemed to care. There are bridges over pools connecting the interweaving footpaths that eventually lead to food or alcohol.
Kids probably can stay entertained while the adults play elsewhere - like in the room, er, I mean, like on the golf course. Play golf even if you are a lousy golfer. I played alone and was pampered by my personal caddy (she read putts, always knew distances for fairway shots and she even drove the cart and kept score). Several slower players were on the course, but all allowed me to play through (some folks were taking lessons as they played) and their slow pace did not interfere w/ my pace. Get an ocean view room. It is worth the extra money. The views are supurb and if you are lucky you may be able to see the sunset behind the sea temple from the balcony. Otherwise, you can just take a walk and view it from one of the popular spectator areas on the cliff behind hole no. 7 I think it is.
I was pissed at the hotel for botching our airport transfer and leaving us stranded at the airport, but I soon forgot about the ordeal after we arrived and settled in.
