I can recommend the Bali Rani Hotel as we have stayed there and found it to be a very nice hotel. We requested a room with a balcony overlooking the pool. We had to wait a few days before one became available but it was worth waiting for as it was really lovely. The grounds and pool are great for lounging around. We used to take a short cut through the grounds of the Kartika Plaza to walk up the beach to the Art Markets and Kuta as it was much nicer than tackling the footpaths, hawkers etc. Hope you have a good holiday.
