I guess it depends on where you decide to live. I can only give you what I've observed. I find that the couples that live outside of Blai seem more successful. Sometimes the Balinese woman gets a hard time from the Balinese and other Indonesians. She may be assumed to be a "cewek nakal" in some places, which hurts. I feel that Balinese woman are loyal wives, and if not ousted by their own community for marrying outside their race, the relationships are more successful than the Balinese men and Western women. This is only my opinion though. I'd like to hear what other women think. Let's face it, marriages in any culture are a challenge these days. But it is harder for western women if they are trapped in Bali than if they were in a country where their rights as citizens were more respected and protected.
