If you want the color saturation of slide film in your prints, try ULTRA 50 by Agfa. It is a slow, ASA 50 film that is spectacular, makes Kodak Royal gold 100 look dull...amazing. I shot in Yosemite (California) extensively with both and was shocked by the result. Yes at 50 you need a tripod but you would with Velvia slide film too! I am going to try the Optima 100 which is the next in Agfas pro series, I hope its almost as good as the 50!
PS, if shooting midday, you can cheat and use a polarizer and or a graduated neutral density filter, is it really cheating? After all, you may not reach that mountaintop till noon!
