Well, I've never stayed at Patra Jasa, but friends have said it is a long way from the "action" of Kuta.
I stayed at Bali Rani in Sept 98, and found it to be very nice hotel - it hasn't got breach front but just a short walk and you are at the beach.
The pool is very nice, and as anywhere in Bali the staff is great !!!
Staying at Bali Rani you are only a short walk from a lot of good resturants & shopping.
Just to back up how much I enjoyed the hotel, I'm staying there for 2 nigths in may.
