Also the Belgian Institute of Tropical Medicine advices to take the injections against typhoid. We did not have any problem with it and it is indeed very cheap. No reason to take any risk.
There are also pills against typhoid, but these are less effective and offer less protection. The chance of side effects is also bigger with these pills. If your affraid of the needles it might be an alternative, but it 's not the first choice.
