Booking through the internet is "NOT" a no no
If you are going to Bali during Australian school holidays...good luck with bartering at the front door...But if you have an internet booking for at least 1 or 2 nights at the "internet rate" ( which can be upto 50% off the advertised room rate ) you have at least a couple of days to barter for a cheaper rate.
Try emailing the hotels direct , sometimes you get better than the internet specials.
I have booked this way several times and have done it again for my trip to Bali which starts in 10 days.
