Can't help on the deals aspect 'cos I'm on the west coast of OZ but when considering the price from Sydney to Bali return, take into account that it is VERY popular (i.e. the planes are usually booked out well in advance) and that is it quite a long way to go - about 6,000 miles return.
The other problem - and probably the major one - is that there is very little real competition on this route so not much pressure to keep prices down.
