I went to the Monkey Forest just south of Ubud. My wife and I didn't bring in any food, and didn't buy any either. The monkeys didn't approach us at all. We saw plenty of them though. They are cute, but curious. The jungle there is really neat. My recommendation though is to continue through the forest (go off to the right past the temple) and go to a small village named Ngyugling (excuse the massacre of the name!) It is on most maps, but is right past the temple. The stores are neat and you can see alot of the excellent wood carvings. The price you will get at these places will probably be the best you can get, but you still have to bargain. Walk to the small museum, its worth a look. Its set back about 70meters on your left.
