It takes at least 2 years between the final draft of a guide book and its publication (This is what Bill Dalton told me, concerning some info I was passing to him for his latest Bali Handbook), so obviously one cannot rely on the prices quoted, no matter what guide book. However, the info about Bali's places, culture, etc..is, as you say, brillant.
