take some of both, because as we had both in Feb this year, and it's the fourth time we have been, (and it's always the same) some days the US$ seemed to do best, and other days the £ sterling, so if you have both then you can decide. Don't bother with traveller's cheques, they are not easy to change and the rate is not as good. Take your credit card if you have one, the ATM's are everywhere, it can get you out of trouble, if you have a loss, or it can help you buy that extra special thing, that you didn't bring cash for. Only always bargain with cash in shops and outlets, except the main department stores, and always think that there is something funny if you don't get money or a piece of paper explaining why out of an ATM.. If that happens phone the emergency number right away and report it.
