Hi Ken,
It all depends on what you are looking to find in Bali.
Sanur : Quiet beaches , not as many hawkers , Good restaurants
water activities. A very relaxed atmosphere & a good base to travel from.
Kuta : Tourist shopping mecca of Bali , markets , lots of hawkers and a hive of activity , surf beach's lots of good restaurants , bars & disco's.
Ubud : cultural center of Bali with paintings , jewellery wood carvings etc. Good monkey forest there and hardly any hawkers. No beach but there are a few good hotels ( cheap ) with pools and yet again , as there appears to be all over Bali , more great reastaurants
So its all up to you....what do you want....
