Dont be ashamed to be a Kuta fan, so am I. Judging by the number of people who stay at Kuta we are not the only ones. I'ts your money Nora so you have your holiday where and how you want.
I suggest Goshas,Orchid Garden (both seafood)and Bali Aussie in Jalan Melasti. The Bali Rock also in Melasti is popular but I have never eaten there. The Do Drop Inn in Legian a few metres north of Melasti was good a few years ago but havn't been there for a while. The Green Garden in Tuban(Jalan Kartika Plaza) is excellent if you dont mind the pet dog wandering amongst the tables.
The Terrace Cafe in the Hotel Istana Rama (About half way along the beach road) had a seafood barbecue on Friday nights when we stayed there. If they are still doing that it is worth checking out as it was very good value.
None of these are particularly expensive(Orchid Garden would be about the most expensive but I have been going there since 1982 when the cook was a John Lennon look alike constantly high on magic mushrooms and it has always had good food). John's favourite saying, mushroom for breakfast, mushroom for lunch, mushroom for dinner-no power in head. But I digress.
Just one thing, if you are looking for five star standards you wont find it at these places but the service is caring and friendly.
Mistakes don't happen all that often and if they do, dont worry about it. Just relax, it is all part of the fun.
Bon apetite.
