There is a marvelous newish hotel with less than 15 rooms, called Alam Indah. We stayed there on our honeymoon in November and loved it. It is in Nyuhkuning Village (just past the monkey forest temple), and is run by the same family that owns Cafe Wayan and Kebun Indah Bungalows. Their rates are USD$55 and up for gorgeous rooms overlooking the rice paddies, including breakfast. We stayed in the Gardenia suite, a two story free-standing stone structure for about USD$90 a night. There is a small pool, and the whole property is VERY quiet, save for the birds and geckos. Outside stone carved bathrooms, no a/c. There is a driver who will pick you up from the airport. He will also take you into the town of Ubud, or the walk is about half an hour.
