Not to put a damper on your trip but still.............

1. Have heard (but not experienced) that carrying surfboards, etc. on roof is against driving laws. (despite empirical evidence that the only law on the road in Bali in ANARCHY). I was told by several surfers that they were stopped and fined for having boards strapped to roof. Don't know if it's one of those creative laws that the police use there to justify stopping tourists and getting a couple bucks "toll". Of course hard racks might be permissible where soft racks aren't.

2. I was in Bali in May and September last year. In May there was virtually no wind ever. (boy, was it hot). In September there was light to, at most, moderate breezes. Never conditions that I would say are condusive to serious windsurfing. Just something to consider last minute (bring a big sail) Hawaii on the other hand is practically gale force for months now!
