May-June is very good for diving in the Gilis. The Gilis are excellent for beginners, because the waters are usually calm, and max depth is around 25 meters. Visibility is fair, about 15 meters. Most dive spots around Gili Trawangan. Some whitetip sharks at Takat Malang (Gili Air) at sunrise.
In Bali, excellent diving. Pulau Menjangan, Pemuteran, Tulamben, Cemeluk, Candi Dasa, Nusa Penida. Forget about Nusa Dua and Sanur: not worth the effort.
Candi Dasa (Tepekong, Gili Mimpang and Gili Likuan) and Nusa Penida, I would recommend for excellent divers only, because of the strong, unpredictable currents.
You will not see "Jaws" in any of these places: there has been only very few sightings. Reef sharks, yes, but in general at 30 m, and deeper. There are some stone fish, moray eels, burracudas, but if you are not foolish, like trying to pin a tail on one of them, they are part of the reason you are diving.
