Lombok is lovely and much less crowded in the summer than Bali. There has been no violence there nor threat of violence. Perhaps because it is a mainly muslim island people are nervous but there are about 20% Balinese as well. I spoke to a friend there last week and things are fine so don't be nervous and enjoy!
