I would definitely go back to the inter-continental! I just wanted to paint a realistic picture of the beach. I had a totally different vision than what I saw. Due to the time change I would get up around 6 am and walk around the grounds (it was one of my favorite parts of the day..especially to see all the offerings left for the gods). However, down at the beach that early, it was very peaceful but not a pretty picture. The tide was low and the left over pollution from high tide is what changed my mind about swimming. Seaweed is one thing but to see the trash mixed up with it was another story. The locals are out sifting through (I'm not sure if they're looking for cans and bottles but it seemed like they were filling their plastic bags with all different kinds of stuff) there was no way they could even pick up one-quarter of the litter that I saw. The hotel must come by shortly later with a sandsifter, bulldozer type device and clean up because it looks a whole lot different by 10 a.m./ I just wanted to give you some honest info about the beach. Fortunately, we didn't just go for the beach but for the whole experience, which I highly recommend. I'd go back in a heartbeat! We really enjoyed visiting Ubud and the monkey forest was such an incredible experience! I just can't say enough about getting to interact with the monkeys. They're absolutely fascinating!!!! Well, I hope I've given you a little bit more insight. I also recommend splitting up your hotel stay, we really enjoyed getting to experience the different hotels and the atmospheres they had to offer. We thought the Sheraton Laguna Nusa Dua was gorgeous although out of the way but very romantic! Take care and if there's anything else I can give my opinion on I'd be more than happy to share it with you.
