Just used them last week to Bali. Service is just so-so. I couldn't believe that they only showed 2 movies from NY to Tokyo!!! No individual screens... they are NOT Cathay Pacific or Singapore -- but okay.
The definately give preference to Japanese travelers...
As for staying... the airport has those little rooms. You could try that. The buses & trains to Tokyo will take 1 - 1 1/2 hours each way!!! I don't think you will make it - besides - it's VERY expensive - about $35 US each way on the train!
Narita is your best bet .... that's what we did.
Don't forget to ask for those great exit rows... the ones with no seat in front of you! We did that on 2 legs of our trip - those seats are GREAT!
