The Intan is an excellent hotel - as are 'most' hotels in bali.
I've been twice to the Intan because I love it so much and I really like the location. Perfect if you wish to escape the hawkers for a walk along the beach side and close to great restaraunts in Melasti St.
Make sure when you book or get there that you ask for a room in the 300's because they're the new ones - the other rooms are old and have carpet in them, making them smell damp and quite uninviting.
But the new rooms are lovely.
The pool area is great and you'll love it. Before I went the first time to the Intan I got half a dozen good reports about it and they were right.
Its got a sunken pool bar as well which I feel is a must in Bali - gives you that extra 'paradise' feel.
