Hi Anne. You will have no difficulty getting a driver to take you to Amed from Ubud( The same probably applies for Sanur but I have no personal knowledge of Sanur). If you just want to go straight there you can pick up a driver on Monkey Forest Road or Jalan Raya. It is quite a long drive through magnificent scenery. You should be able to get the same driver to pick you up again a few days later. You will have to bargain hard. Bear in mind a good driver guide charges $30+ for a full day. We used several drivers we hired this way and the fact that they are touting on the street does not mean they are worse drivers than others, usually they do not speak English sufficiently well to be a guide as well as a driver.
If you decide to use your trip back and forth to see something of the island and not just as the quickest point between A&B then I would hire a driver guide for the 2 days. Our favourite choice would be Wayan Purya. He would make your trip to Amed very memorable.
