We have spoken with our driver - regarding things he might need or want from the US - he said he needs nothing at this time (whatever that truly means). But he did mention that a book on art or interior decorating would be nice. I have not looked at any bookstores or heard on the forum that there is a shortage of US books, but we will purchase some books for him and in addition to the tip of cash, will leave all five of the current travel guides on Bali we have purchased. He (Wayan Merta) said he has guide books in his car for our use. I would imagine that if he has a lot of people use them - they would be quite dog earred.
Again, articles of clothing and especially articles of childrens clothing would be appreciated. Even if he does not have children now, I would quess he would in the future.
