We flew Malaysian airlines and given what the others said it was uneventful. The only downside about flying via KL is that to come back to SA you have a 6 hour wait in KL before the long sojourn home. We still had to fly to CT and got back rather weary travellers. The flights were full (we have just returned) and given the cramped space in cattle class it was not unpleasant. You have 3 movies if you are not inclined to sleep and you are fed 2 meals in the 10 hour flight. For the KL-Bali leg you get a snack. There are some good seats at the beginning of the economy section if you are taller - these are good to get if they are available. The plane is huge and we were in row 60 and there were still a couple of rows behind us. It is a good idea to change your watch to the time of your destination to ease the effect of jetlag. It also means you understand why you are being served breakfast instead of supper.
