There's a beautiful walk from Ubud via Laplapan, Pejeng, Bedulu, Peliatan & back to Ubud (the area is clearly defined on any map). I walked & sometimes cycled this many times. It's best in the morning, early, I used to go before b/fast. Round trip walking up to 2 hours, 1 hour or so bike riding, but then I do like to stop & chat. If you're early enough you may even come across the duck herder between Laplapan & Pejeng. Make sure you take plenty of water, although there are a few road stalls along the way, a couple of hills are real doozies. From Pejeng through Bedulu & Peliatan you are on the main road, gets busy & at times noisy, but there's plenty of room to walk on the side of the road. If you've had enough around Bedulu or Peliatan you can catch a Bemo back to Ubud for around Rp1,000.
Also if you head up Jl. Sandat, Jl. Suweta or Jl. Tirta Taman they are north-bound roads/tracks & will take you into some beautiful rice fields & terraces. Great way to meet some locals also. Hardly any traffic.
If you hire a pushbike, or feeling like a more energetic walk, a trek over to Sayan is lovely. Road can get pretty busy, but it's a nice area, great view & also many locals to talk to.
