Hi Gillian. The shuttle bus from the Gardenia drops off outside Matahari's Dept Store in Kuta. There is no transportation sitting around the Gardenia waiting for fares, you would have to call (or have the reception staff call) for a taxi or a minivan. The travel service in the lobby is expensive so beware of using them. You can always go into Kuta on the shuttle and then pick up a bemo to go further afield. The last shuttle back is around 6:00pm. The Gardenia is very nice and great value for money, I don't know the ages of your children but you will probably need the shuttle to get to the beach and back.
