A great many expats, or at least the ones gainfully employed in meaningful pursuits, live in the Ubud area. A popular hangout for the Ubud expats is Naughty Nuris' Warung, just across the street from the Neka Museum...(not the gallery), just north of Ubud. This is also the meeting place for the Hash House Harriers which is an expat organization of amateur runners, but professional drinkers! Thursday nights is a particularly good night to show up at Naught Nuris as Brian, Nuri's husband, almost always manages to secure a large and very fresh yellow fin tuna at Benoa which is served up in either sashimi or as tuna steaks, grilled to perfection on their grill. Nuris is also the best place in Bali for perfectly dry Absolute or Beefeater's martinis. There are no better to be found in Bali! The usual fare at Nuris is excellent Balinese dishes and grilled western favorites like chicken and superb sausage. They have great fries and make their own chips too! The regulars at Nuris can be a rough crowd, but pretty ladies are always kindly treated!
