We stayed at Santika Beach Hotel for 10 days in January on the recommendation of a friend. We throughly enjoyed the hotel, everbody was polite and helpful. Everybody else has said what is to offer but we also felt that it provided a quiet oasis away from the hawkers on the street, you don't have to worry about being "hassled".
In regard to the soccer tops there are plenty of stalls that sell fake soccer tops (only difference is the sport logo isn't on it eg reebok, nike) the largest stall we saw was next to the McDonalds near Waterbom Park.
Not sure if you just want European or also English but they have a large range of all teams. You can also get some with the name and number of certain players on the back. My boyfriend stocked up on Man U shirts and shorts.
