Hi Megs. If your children are young or timid I suggest that you do not carry any food into the Monkey Forest. There will be plenty of people feeding and you can enjoy watching them. Should you decide this looks like fun you can quickly pop out and get some bananas. The monkeys are fed by keepers who sit amongst them every day and this is also a fun and non threatening thing to watch. I am sure your children will enjoy visiting with them. The monkeys in the forest at Ubud are not nearly as rambuncious as the ones at Ula Watu who are quite agressive by comparison. I lost my baseball cap to a monkey at Ula Watu who was on my shoulder and away before I knew it The nut seller quickly gave chase and recovered it.
Another great place to take children is the Bali Bird Park between Denpaser and Ubud. There are tame birds who will sit on their shoulders while you take photos to your hearts content. Enjoy, Sue
