I have asked around and I am told that I should take several US 1$ with me on my upcoming trip. I figured that is a good idea and I would tip a buck for the baggage and short cab rides, a buck or two for the cab rides and about 5 or so Us$ to a driver or guide of a day-long tour. I don't want to give too little or accidently give way too much. I could see giving the wrong denomination of an unfamiliar currency. I'm sure I would find out if it was too little and, likewise, I would expect to hear nothing if I gave way too much, as no change is ordinarily given back for tips. When I'm in Vegas I use chips for tips. I'll use one hotel's chips at another hotel for tips and, if that hotel doesn't accept the others' chips, waitresses don't complain. I suppose in Bali anybody can convert the $ and, being that it is a tip, I wouldn't expect any groaning. I would like to know if the US$$ (or other foreign currency) is a good plan or a stupid idea.
