I was in Ubud last September and ate once at the Snel restaurant. I remember that our waiter told my driver that he would not be able to keep any tips I left for our lunch. My driver suggested that I not bother to leave one, and I followed his advice. Seems unlikely to me that a waiter would cheat himself out of a tip. In other words, I believe this restaurant doesn't allow its help to keep their tips. The food was good and the beer was cold, but I had no interest in going back there again.
