Cordial - Red or otherwise is usually taken to Bali to be mixed with the Gastrolyte you may need if you have a bout of Bali Belly - self inflicted or otherwise.
The cordial makes it more palatable. The Gastrolyte replaces the body salts lost at the time. I think you can buy the cordial up there.
Actually coca cola or GI cola have more of the replacement electrolytes the body needs. A doctor or trekking shop will probably advise.
If you drink red wine in Bali you are mad. The heat and the humidity sweat your natural body salts - wine does not replace it. Beer and water(heaps of it) will help keep your body in balance.
