Hi Daniel,
If you are backpacking it, don't take a towel. They are too bulky and heavy. Make your first purchase at either Kuta or Legian art markets, a couple of cheap sarongs. These suffice as a towel at the beach and after a shower, they are light and fold up to virtually nothing besides drying quicker than a towel. Been going since the late 70's and soon learned this lesson. It gives you heaps more room in your bag for goodies to bring home!
