The Manggala, I forgot to mention, is in the traditional bungalow style, so the rooms are separate from other units. It is only steps from the beach as are most of the accommodations in Lovina. There weren't many tourists so I think bargaining or obtaining a room was not a problem in February. The Bungai Permai overlooks the rice fields, the river gorge and the mountains. Our room (number 4) overlooked the pretty pool. I think rooms 7 and 8 have even better views, but one was occupied and the one available only had 2 single beds. The night we spent here was one of our most memorable nights. First of all, there was no electricity from the time we arrived around 4 pm to about 11 pm. Well, we were out from 4:30 to 10:00 in Ubud, so I guess it didn't matter. But it would have been nice to have been told that there was no electricity before we took the room. Anyhow, it was somewhat romantic by candlelight. The queen-sized bed had a mosquito net (another touch of romance), there were wooden furnishings in a fairly large room with a high-ceiling that was open but draped with a quilt. I think the roof was thatched or wooden. The floors--I think were tile--I can't remember any wooden floors my entire trip. The bathroom was very clean and new and roomy. All in all, a very charming place. I had found this place from another's person's recommendation from the travel forum, and if you are interested, please do a search (January archives, I believe) because I think you can book by e-mail and wiil save you a trip out there only to find it booked. If you can't find it, I can try to dig up my sources. Plus, I had a great time in the pool! Breakfast was omelettes, toast and fruit with tea/coffee--very good. Good luck!
