There are hundreds of 2-star to 4-star hotels in Bali, and usually every visitor thinks the hotel he/she has been staying at is absolutely TOP.
They are more or less all the same: nearly all hotels in Bali are clean, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. This is Bali, and they are Balinese people, no matter whether they work in a losmen or 5-star hotel.
Therefore, we often cannot understand the questions re "the best hotel" etc. If you come from Australia, Europe, or the Americas, you will always be impressed by the friendliness, and the willingness to help you with anything you need.
Therefore, if we would include all categories of hotels, we would end up with a list of probably 400 hotels/losmen (why exclude those ?) which would get one or two votes every year.
