..'Island of Bali', by Miguel Covarrubias, a Mexican painter, traveller and anthropologist? 1st published in 1937, the book is enthralling and captivating as is the subject. It's an absolutely detailed account on his experiences and impressions of Bali and gives great insight to day-to-day life for Balinese. Although the book was written in the 30's, it's an unbelievably true reflection of life still in Bali today – it's uncanny!
