Thanks for the good tips Brookesy, so there are some "proper" antique shops around. I like to fossick around also, have found a couple of nice items in Ubud, one from a talented art/antique dealer on the way out to Kedewatan, just past and opposite the Neka Museum, and another small shop on the cute little road that dives off to the left just down Monkey Forest Road, and has a few nice little cafes and boutiques on it. I tried in Lombok at the main market, but all I was shown was very dirty and unappealing old metal ware and grimy heavy damaged pottery. I tried to look politely interested. Anyone that likes that type of thing may get a bargain however as the stuff was just about buried in an obscure display counter and looked as though it had been there for years. Are you in Perth by any chance?
