In Australia we can have a card linked to our phone account and phone home through our own carrier please pre-arrange this if you can as it is quite expensive to use the Indonesian carrier but it is easy to get through in times of emergencies. We also left our kids behind on our recent visits and so did some friends of ours the rang through the Indonesian system on only two occassions for a short period and payed $80.00 AUD (nearly equivalent in CAD) we phoned home with our card for longer periods twice and payed $30.00.
