The only problems with China Airlines are their frequent crashes. Their record must be even worse than the airlines from the mainland (remember, China Airlines is Taiwan based).
Nowadays, they try hard because most Taiwanese prefer SQ or CX although this means a much longer journey to Bali and a change of aircraft in HKG or SIN.
