Just to set the facts straight:
About 10% of the population of Lombok are Balinese. As a reward for helping Lombok in it's war with Sumbawa, Balinese were allowed to settle in Lombok from around 1723 to 1750. But then the Balinese kingdom of Karangasem went to war with the Lombok king and took over the western half of the island. Many Balinese warriors, artists, dancers, and craftspeople were brought to live on Lombok by the kingdom. Balinese power on Lombok collapsed when the Dutch took over in 1894. The majority of the Lombok population are the Sasak people who are predominantly Muslim. Balinese people are predominantly Hindu. Hope this helps explain how someone can be Balinese and also from Lombok!
