We returned from Bali a few days ago and found that US dollars received the best exchange rate approx 8600 rupiah to the dollar sometimes it was as high as 8900 over the 10 days we were there. Bring larger bills you will receive a better rate and also be sure to bring newer bills the ones that have the pictures of the presidents with large heads (better rate again). Also, If the money looks dirty or old they will not accept them.
